BHHS Legacy Foundation has awarded grant funding in the amount of $75,000 to Esperança for Health Education Programs.   The monies granted will go towards health-related preventative education programs, including obesity prevention, oral health and chronic disease management to underserved families who live in Central Phoenix or the neighborhoods that line the I-17 corridor.

Esperança has been providing preventive health education services to families in the Phoenix community for 16 years and this grant will allow them to expand the program.

The funding provided by BHHS Legacy Foundation will allow Esperanca to provide preventative health education on a variety of topics including breast cancer screening, sun safety, water safety, diabetes, hypertension, asthma, heart disease, and more.  Participants will be directed to partners who can provide medical and dental services when needed. Programming will be delivered in English and Spanish with a goal of improving community health for people without regular access to the health care system.

It’s also increasing participants’ access to care by linking them to partners who are able to provide needed medical and dental services.”
