Definition of Duties:
- Capturing surgical mission activities through photos and stories
- Interviewing families and volunteers about their experiences with the program, and success stories
- Writing up experiences and stories that can be used for reports, newsletters, and social media
- Serving as a team member with volunteer surgical team and country staff
Length of Commitment:
1-2 weeks depending on surgical mission
Time Required
Volunteer will join surgical mission team on a 1-2 week volunteer mission to Bolivia or Nicaragua. Volunteer must be able to commit to the entire duration of the trip, a one-hour program orientation prior to departure, and 5-10 hours post-trip to edit and deliver media materials that can be used by the organization.
Qualifications:
- Interest in international health
- Interest in photography, videography, and writing
- Flexibility and patience in a low-resource international setting
- Volunteer must be able to pay for their own trip expenses which include flights, visas, vaccinations, lodging and meals.
- Must have passport with required visas and vaccinations
- Strong team player
- Interest in medical care or medical services for the undeserved
