Anna Carolina Ortiz serves as Esperança’s Global Health & Development Director. She has a long history of experience in environmental health program development in rural Central American communities beginning with her two years of service in the Peaces Corps in Panama. She received a B.S. in Sociology from Arizona State University and a Masters of Public Health from the University of Arizona. Most recently she earned a Certificate in Nonprofit Executive Leadership from the ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation. Her previous work experience includes the World Health Organization, ASU College of Nursing & Health Innovation, and Chicanos Por La Causa.
Anna is the founder of the Arizona Global Development Network, bringing together international organizations around the state for productive collaboration and resource-sharing. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the International Association for Community Development (IACD), where she represents Latin America & the Caribbean Islands, promoting global community development initiatives and the Board of Directors for the Young & Empowered Women's Association. In 2020 Anna was inducted in the Phoenix Business Journal 40 Under 40 for her accomplishments and contributions to the greater Valley community and selected as an ATHENA Young Professional finalist.
